Tutoring Inclusions & Fees
Individual and paired tutoring. What your child receives, and what it costs.
Every student in an individual or paired session has a program built around them: their texts, their assessment calendar, the things they personally find hardest. The weekly session is where it becomes visible. This page sets out everything the program includes, and the fees for each year level.
What’s included
Your weekly fee covers a complete program of support, not simply the time in the session. Every individual and paired student receives the following.
A live session each week, individually or as a pair
Taught by a qualified English or History specialist, planned around your child’s current unit, their assessment calendar and the areas they personally find hardest. Paired sessions are limited to two students, so the teaching stays as close as it is one-to-one.
Preparation built around your child’s texts
We read the set texts your child is studying, not a summary of them, and build each lesson from their school’s actual task sheets and criteria. Nothing is generic, and nothing is off the shelf.
Up to ten essays marked in full each term
Practice essays and between-session tasks are marked closely against VCAA criteria and returned within three business days, with comments that tell your child what to change and how, not simply where they went wrong. Marked independently, ten pieces would typically cost a family around $200 a term. Here it is included.
Support between sessions
Your child can email questions between lessons and get a considered answer. Support does not stop when the session ends, which matters most in the week an assessment falls due.
Every study resource we produce
Unit-specific study guides, essay templates and revision materials, included at no extra cost. Many of these are sold as paid products on our website. InstructEd students receive all of them, and keep them.
Practice texts written for your child
Most students prepare for the unseen-text section of the exam using articles that have been circulating for years. Ours do not. We write our own practice texts: exam length, exam difficulty, grounded in real Australian issues. The first time your child sees a text is the first time anyone has. It is the only preparation that resembles the exam itself.
A note on session length
The session is the visible part of a much larger body of work. The reading, planning, marking and resource-building behind each lesson take the same time whether a session runs 45 minutes or a full hour.
For that reason our fees are set against the whole program of support, not the minutes in the lesson.
Our fees
Fees are charged per student, per week, and depend on your child’s year level, whether they learn individually or as a pair, and which of our two session types you choose.

All fees are per student, per week. Rates for two in a class are shown per student.
Founder Sessions
Taught by Yvie, founder of InstructEd. Qualified VCE English & History teacher, assessing experience, published textbook author & Master of Teaching Clinical Specialist. Availability is limited.
Senior Tutor Sessions
Taught by a hand-selected InstructEd tutor: qualified, experienced, and a specialist in the subject they teach. Broader availability across the week, including after-school and evening times.
Every inclusion listed above applies to Founder and Senior Tutor sessions alike. The same preparation, the same marking, the same resources and the standards. The difference between the two rates is who is in the room, not what your child receives.
Two in a class: paired sessions are available on request, and only where both students are in the same year level, studying the same texts, and working at a similar standard. In practice this usually means twins, siblings, or close friends who share a class. Each student is charged the per-student rate shown above.
Year 9 and below: discounted rates apply. Please ask and we will quote for your child’s year level and subject.
GST
InstructEd is not currently required to be registered for GST, so no GST is charged on lesson fees or services. Should registration become necessary as the business grows, families will be notified in writing beforehand, and GST will apply from that effective date in line with Australian Taxation Office requirements.
Pricing and policies are subject to change with written notice. Existing families will always be given notice in writing before a change takes effect.
