There is no commitment at this stage; it is simply the first conversation. If it feels like a good fit, we match your child with the right specialist teacher and book your first sessions from there.

The consultation is a relaxed conversation, not a sales pitch. We talk through where your child is now, what they are working towards, and any particular challenges, whether that is a specific text, an upcoming SAC, confidence, or exam technique.

We explain how we work, answer your questions, and recommend the best teacher and approach. You leave with a clear sense of how we can help, and you decide whether to go ahead.

Continuing is simple. Most families carry on term to term without needing to do anything, and your tutor will confirm arrangements ahead of each new term. If you have paused and would like to return, just get in touch and we will pick up where you left off, with the same teacher wherever possible.

We specialise in VCE English and History, and only those two subjects. That focus is deliberate. By concentrating on English and History, our teachers know the study designs, set texts and assessment criteria in real depth, which is what lifts results. We do not offer other subjects, because doing two exceptionally well matters more to us than doing many adequately.

We work with students in Years 10 to 12, including Pre-VCE and the full VCE sequence in English and History. Year 10 support focuses on building strong foundations before VCE begins, while Units 1 to 4 support runs all the way through to exam preparation.

Our tutors are qualified, experienced teachers and pre-service teachers, not recent graduates who simply scored well in their own exams. They understand curriculum, assessment, and how students actually learn, and they specialise in English and History. This is the heart of what makes InstructEd different: you are taught by genuine educators.

We match deliberately, not at random. Drawing on your consultation, we pair your child with a teacher suited to their subject, their year level, their goals, and the way they learn best. If a different match would ever serve your child better, we will arrange it.

Our tutoring is primarily one-on-one, so every session is built entirely around your child. We believe individual attention makes the biggest difference at VCE level. We do, however, run occasional group intensives, such as exam cram sessions, masterclasses, and workshops for developing sophistication in writing. If that is something you would find valuable, please ask us about what is coming up.

Sessions are held online, one-on-one, and run much like in-person tutoring, with screen sharing, shared documents and live feedback. You need a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, and a quiet space to work.

We use Google Workspace, so all you need is a free Google account, which we will help you set up if needed, and we will send simple instructions before your first session. No special software purchase is required.

Learning between sessions is where a lot of progress happens. Your tutor sets focused practice suited to your child's goals, whether that is essay writing, analysis, or revision, and reviews it together in the next session. The amount is tailored, never busywork, and always tied to what will move your child's results.

We keep progress visible. Tutors monitor each student's development session to session, and you receive a quarterly progress report with detailed feedback on strengths and the areas being worked on. Between reports, your tutor is happy to share how things are tracking, so you are never left guessing.

We want parents to feel informed and involved. You are welcome to raise questions or share updates with your child's tutor, and your quarterly reports give a regular, detailed picture of progress. If anything comes up between times, just reach out and we will make sure you are looked after.

We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please give us at least 24 hours notice. With 24 hours notice or more, we will do our best to reschedule, or provide a refund or credit. For cancellations with less than 24 hours notice, the full lesson fee may be charged. We will always be reasonable, and we make this clear from the outset so there are no surprises.

Our pricing reflects what you are paying for: qualified, experienced teachers who specialise in VCE English and History, personalised one-on-one sessions, tailored practice, and regular progress reporting. We are a premium service rather than the cheapest option, because the quality of the teacher is the single biggest factor in a student's results.
